He participated as the principal investigator in Guangdong Province Medical Research Foundation and as a co-investigator in Science and Technology Planning Project of Guangdong Province.

Dr. Liu has published over 14 SCI papers as the first author or corresponding author, and 9 SCI papers as one of the authors.

He studied as a visiting scholar in University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) during 2018 and 2019.
