Stanford University and Elsevier recently released the 2025 World’s Top 2% Scientists list (8th Edition), in which 22 researchers from Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital were recognized, marking a 57% increase from the previous year.

Four professors were included in the Career-Long Scientific Impact List, while 21 were named in the Annual Scientific Impact List. Among them, Professors Yu Xueqing, Wu Yilong, and Yang Wei were selected for both categories.

The ranking, drawn from a global pool of nearly 7 million scientists, identifies the top 2% of researchers based on comprehensive metrics such as citation counts, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, and citations to papers as single or first author. The list spans 22 major fields and 174 subfields, reflecting both research output and academic influence. The Career-Long Scientific Impact List acknowledges sustained contributions throughout a scientist’s career, while the Annual Scientific Impact List highlights impact within the previous year.

This prestigious recognition not only underscores the outstanding academic achievements and contributions of our researchers but also highlights the hospital’s robust scientific capabilities and growing influence in key medical fields. It stands as a significant testament to the commitment to innovation and excellence in medical research.
